About us

Silento is the culmination of a decade-long musical collaboration and friendship between the singer Celina Jiménez and the guitarist Ana Ferrer. Since they were little, the two artists sung together regularly in the choir of their hometown, Valencia. Today they perform in different countries as a duo, presenting their original interpretations of traditional melodies. With their creative arrangements they transport their audiences in a very personal journey during each of their concerts. One of their upcoming projects includes the release of their first album.

Celina Jiménez

I began my musical studies at the age of eight at the “José Iturbi” School of Music in Valencia. There I studied first Double Bass, and then Voice with the soprano María Ángeles Peters, obtaining an Honour Award at my graduation in 2012.

In 2013 I moved to Berlin to pursue my Bachelor of Music at the “Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler” with the soprano Norma Sharp. From then onward I established myself as a freelance artist in the German capital, combining my solo performances with vocal coaching sessions that I give with great passion to private students and choirs all over the city.

I like to supplement my classical training with my curiosity for music of other traditions. In 2016 I recorded my first album “Yo que vengo”, produced by the guitarist and composer Julio Arbesú, where we presented music from a very wide range of styles: from fado to copla, and from jazz to tango. Additionally, in 2017 I co-founded the Berlin-based “TrioSur”, a free-impro experimental trio for piano, guitar and voice.

My professional guitar training began in the “Conservatorio Profesional de Música” in Valencia with Prof. María Ángeles Abad. I graduated from this institution with Honour Awards both in Guitar Performance and History of Music, as well as a Distinction of Honour in Composition. In 2016 I completed my Bachelor Degree in Guitar at the “Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya” (ESMUC) in Barcelona with Prof. Álex Garrobé, graduating with honours and obtaining a special mention for my final project. In July 2018 I conducted a musical research on guitar transcriptions, obtaining my Master Degree in Music by the “Universidad Politécnica de Valencia” (UPV).

As well as developing my solo career as a guitarist with performances all over Spain and Germany, I have created and participate in different musical projects that range from jazz to traditional music from Valencia, Catalonia and Latin America. I combine all of this with two activities which I am passionate about: teaching and composing.
